Programmes

At the Piano Academy we offer 5 main programmes of study:

Kids on the Keys is our course for children and young people using the highly popular and successful John Thomson series. The John Thomson series establishes the foundational essentials for every musician.

By The Book is for those wishing to follow the conventional route of Graded Examinations. The two boards of examination at The Piano Academy are ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall which are all credited examinations.

Jazz Hands is for those who want to play Jazz Piano either by following the ABRSM Grades or Jonathan’s own course in Jazz Piano techniques. Jonathan will show you the basics in boogie-woogie, rhythm & blues, funk, soul and gospel, improvisation and band direction.

Keys for Worship is designed to assist those who are church musicians or aspiring worship leaders to reach their potential. This is Jonathan’s own course which is designed and tailored for the individual.

Just Play is our programme for those who simply want to learn to play the piano without doing grades or even reading music. This is Jonathan’s own course and is designed and tailored for the individual.

Fees/Term

The Piano Academy tailors the chosen programme to suit each individual student’s needs and capabilities.

Lessons take place on a weekly basis and each lesson lasts 30 minutes. Lessons are priced at £12.

Holidays - July & August, 2 weeks at Christmas and 2 weeks at Easter

Terms & Conditions

Invoices will be issued before the start of each month or term depending on your choice of payment.
Payment must be made at the start of month or term. Failing to do so will result in lessons being automatically cancelled without warning.
The Piano Academy reserves the right to dismiss students for persistent failure to practice or any other reason that is seen as being detrimental to the Piano Academy
No refund will be given for lessons missed without prior notice. Where lessons can’t be attended and due notice has been given, every effort will be made to rearrange. Due notice will be considered to be 24hrs before your lesson or before 10am on the morning of your lesson.

Child Protection

Jonathan has an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate from AccessNI authorising him to work with children and young people.
